What personal data I collect and why I collect it

With this website I do not aim to collect or process any personal data. From my perspective any visitors to this website are completely anonymous, and while I may use web-analytical tools, I do not use this website to record, collect or store any personally identifiable data.

Offline I may collect contact names, mail and email addresses, phone and contact details, and social media aliases. Bank details and tax information of clients and suppliers are also recorded. This data is held only to meet required reporting, legal, or security purposes and is not sold or made available to third parties in any way.


When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Who I share your data with

I use Debitoor ( as my invoicing and accounting tool. Clients’ and suppliers’ personal data is recorded in this cloud-based tool to the minimum extent possible to enable basic in- and out-bound invoicing to meet German tax and financial reporting requirements. The personal data collected may include your name, address, email and phone details, BIC & IBANs, and Tax ID & VAT numbers. Debitoor does not have any connection with this website, WordPress or 1&1-Ionos. Any information held is not used for marketing purposes. The Debitoor privacy policy is available here:

A selection of this information is shared with my tax advisor (Steuerberater) and tax office (Finanzamt) as required for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Retention of your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is for recognition and approval of any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on my website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where I send your data

Generally, all my records stay within the European Union. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service which could occur outside the EU.


I do not purchase personal data from other people or organisations.

Occasionally I may obtain a contact or email address of a potential client or supplier via my professional network. In such a case I will always announce the introduction.
